Eligibility
Before you sign up to join the Oakville Newcomers Club, please review our eligibility requirements below.
- Be an individual who identifies as female.
- Eligibility for active membership shall be any of the following:
- A woman who is a newcomer to Oakville and surrounding areas within the last four years, unless otherwise approved by the Executive Committee.
- If you have lived longer than 4 years in Oakville but have a changed life-situation. For example, retirement, divorce, bereavement, where you are in need to meet new people, you can still ask for membership at our Club. (The Membership Secretary will look at the request and discuss with the Executive Committee if further guidance required.)
- If you have previously been a member of Oakville Newcomers Club, or our Alumni club, you are welcome to rejoin Oakville Newcomers Club.
- Most of our members live in Oakville. However, we have had some members who live in nearby cities of Milton, Burlington and Mississauga. Women who live in these surrounding areas will first be directed to an existing club in their area if one exists. Thereafter, you are still welcome to join our club, as long as you meet any of the above eligibility criteria and the club is not at capacity for new Oakville members.
- Members may transfer from another Newcomers Club, providing they meet the membership criteria and pay their dues.
- Pay the annual membership fee and complete the Membership Form.
Membership Includes
- Unlimited participation in a wide range of ONC events and group activities within the membership year, which runs from September to August. Additional fees may apply to speciality events.
- Access to our mobile and desktop APP (this is our communication & event tool)
- Invitation to our Annual General Meeting
- Opportunity to join our Members only Facebook “Oakville Newcomers Club” pages
- Monthly social events (from September to June)
- Subsidy paid by the Club for each member towards the cost of the end of year party and any other special events.
- Membership of the National Newcomers Association Canada www.nnac.ca
Please Note: Processing of your membership could take up to 7 days. Payment is processed through the ONC Stack Team App.
