Activity Groups

The list below shows you all the current interest groups, together with a brief description and a key which depicts whether the group runs in the daytime, evening (or both), whether partners are welcome and whether it's a child-friendly event.

Beverage Soiree

Get together with new and old friends for an enjoyable evening event. We meet in members’ homes and each take along an appetizer or dessert to share, as well as something to drink for the evening. Husbands/partners are welcome too!

Book Club

Picture
The Book Club meets once a month (evening or daytime options are available) at a member’s home for a cup of coffee, stimulating conversations and a lot of laughs. Warning, topics discussed may go outside of book discussion. Everybody is welcome. Book choices are made together and everybody is encouraged to give suggestions.

Coffee Morning

Coffee morning is held every month at a member’s home. The event takes place in the morning and lasts for two hours. For safety reasons children do not attend this event. Join us in a relaxed social setting where you can mingle with new and old ONC friends. Don’t forget to bring your own mug.

Community Outreach

This group helps organize our members into volunteering at specified times in our Community, such as at Kerr Street Mission.   Some of our socials also include a charity fund raising element.

Crafty Circle

An ad-hoc group either meeting at a members house or at organized external workshops to make some Craft items.  Costs will be paid by members attending.

Urban Adventures

Craving a bit of local culture?  Outings are planned and involve seeking out things to do in Toronto or local area.  Including museums, art galleries, exhibitions and trade shows.. the list goes on. 

Dice & Cards

This is a fun, social event that usually takes place in a local hostelry!

We choose a card or dice game to learn and play over the course of a few meetings, depending on how long it takes us to learn. You don’t need to know how to play before hand and we won’t be gambling. Just come along and have some fun, any ideas on games to take up are very welcome!

Golf

This is a social group of golfers and welcomes golfers of all abilities and experience. We generally play a 9-hole Game at local courses in Oakville, Burlington and Milton. Tee times are typically in the morning, sometimes we stay for lunch at the club afterwards. These group events are weather dependent. Payments are required to participate and normally made direct to the golf club.

Lunch Bunch

Are you a foodie and enjoy dining out for lunch while socializing with friends? Curious about trying new restaurants in Oakville and surrounding areas? Then come and join us, it’s a fun way to get to know the local area. We meet monthly for great food and fun with ONC friends.

Magic Moments

Magic Moments offers a one-off, random activity on occasion. This is driven by members and facilitated by a member, with the support of the Board. Some examples of Magic Moments are:
● Wine country limousine tour
● Horse-Back riding
● Spa day
● SUP yoga
● Escape room
● Flower arranging
● Afternoon tea
● Fashion show
● Charity mud run obstacle course

Breakfast Club

Welcome to the Breakfast Club!! It will be held once a month (Last Thursday of each month) @ 9.30am. Mums with babies or toddlers are welcome.

Cooking Group

This is a monthly morning/lunchtime group, approximately 10 people can join (depending on the size of the hosts kitchen).
The host will prepare a menu (sometimes themed) that everyone gets the recipes for, they will buy all the food, and everyone will cook together to prepare a lunch that you will then all share (any leftovers can be taken home).
There is a cost to attending this group – which will vary depending on the food needed. ​

Friday morning walk

Join us weekly on Friday mornings at alternating places in Oakville for approximately an hour of walking – normally in the trails, depending on the weather.

Le coin des commères

If you want to chat in french, come and join the group! We can meet every 2 weeks, (or every week), and chat around a coffee, or anything else. Just a french moment between French speakers.

Pickleball

Pickleball will be a fortnightly meet up group for experienced players and we hope to be able to also still play in winter. ​

Moms and Tots

An active group meeting on a weekly basis at a member's home or community venue.  Great opportunity for moms and their young toddlers / babies to interact for social play time. 

Monthly Social

Join us for a drink and catch-up with friends. It’s the best place to put faces to names, find out what’s happening this month and, most importantly, meet new friends!

Pudding Club

This is a club catering to all women (and babies and stay at home children) with a sweet tooth, we get together and discover local business that make cake, crepes and other sugary treats to enjoy with coffee and company. We’ll meet the first Thursday of each month during school hours.

Running Group

Thursday morning running group open to beginners and experienced runners alike.

Stitch & Bitch

Do you have a project on the go, enjoy stitching, knitting and catching up on the latest with a new group of friends? Stitch & Bitch is held monthly at a member’s home in the daytime and involves stitching and chatting while enjoying coffee and goodies. We also occasionally do Stitch, Bitch and wine – which is held in the evenings.

Trail Blazers

Interested in hiking and discovering some of the beautiful trails Ontario or locally in Oakville has to offer? This is the group for you. A great opportunity to get some exercise and fresh air with new friends. Trailblazers is organized once a month in the mornings and is weather dependent.

Trails can range in distance eg 5-10km and can be local in Oakville or surrounding area. The details will be on the calendar invite each month.

You don’t need to be super fit, but we walk at a medium pace, with some rests and some trails can be uphill – whereas some can be flat on boardwalks. It varies due to the trail.

UnLeashed

Want to get together with other fun dog owners (and their dogs) in the club and relax in an off leash setting.  This event is organized on an ad-hoc basis and can be weather dependant.  Bring some coffee and your dog!

Vine Vibes

Mixing your love of wine and friendships in a casual tasting atmosphere.  Held monthly at a members home, the group will elevate your wine experience while tasting and learning about a certain region or grape.  Wine tasting is on the menu with an educational component.  This is a fun evening group.

Seasonal Activities

​During winter season we may also have activities such as snow shoeing, skiing, cross country skiing.   During the year, we may look to create events for families / children.

Dine Around

Each month we will experience a new restaurant and celebrate different cultures, ethnicity and culinary traditions.
(This event is not subsidised and the member will need to pay).

Secondary School & Beyond (SSAB)

Do you have children in Secondary school, University or maybe an Empty Nester? This group is for you! We will meet for lunch/coffee each month and share our experiences.

Biker Girls - Cycling Group

A casual cycling group for all! All levels welcome for morning rides between 9:30AM and 11:30AM. Your own equipment needed!

Dragon Boating

Dragon boating is a fun-filled, adrenaline pumping, water sports activity. Teams compete in Dragon Boats, which are large canoe-like vessels fitted with ornately carved dragon’s heads and tails.

Crews of up to 16-20 people sit in pairs and paddle to compete in races over distances of around 250m. Each boat has a drummer beating time to keep the paddlers in unison, and a professional helmsperson in the stern to guide the boat.

After our 1-hour training, we will meet for a drink at a nearby pub.

Getaway Girls

Anything and everything from trips abroad to day trips. Talking, Sharing, Planning & executing!

Paddling Pals

SUP, kayak or canoe! Join us for a paddle on Sixteen Mile creek. You will need to supply your own equipment.
